A new project

In a world replete with opinions and analysis, I have figured that my blog is just a hum in the background of the white noise. Opinions, as they say, are like rectums – in that everyone has one, and you can always trust that each one has a certain level of shit in it.

The work here on Rich People Laughing will not stop in the future, although my new project I have stewing in the background is the one I hope that people will find more use. I don’t wish to divulge too much information about it just yet, as it is still being populated and built, but any new news will be shared on this blog when it’s ready.

This will take some time to build, not because it requires heavy work or finicky systems, but because the information that I aim to keep in it requires the passage of time. Once a decent volume has been built I will make announcements on where to find it.

It will have opinions, but that is not the focus of the service. Most, if not all, of my expressive opining will occur here. But the actual service I hope to provide will take place on my new project.

I look forward to sharing more in future. In the meantime, I thank you for your patience.

The COVID stats since inauguration

I try to not be too conspiratorial. There are quite often simple explanations for odd phenomena, and I understand that just because there is something strange, it doesn’t mean that there’s some grand conspiracy from some shady organisation, stemming from powerful surnames or specific ethnic groups. Sometimes, oftentimes, it’s an anomaly.

Yet the COVID statistics present the oddest statistical phenomena that I cannot help but conclude that there is something shady going on. My suspicions are not fully cemented at the moment, as I mention a statistical inconsistency later down in the post – and I mention this at the top of this blog post so that you don’t think I’m somehow burying the lede.

The highlighted date is the date of inauguration for President Joe Biden. I don’t think I need to point out the sharp decline since that date because on this blog I have highlighted how the WHO coincidentally shifted process and definitions on COVID testing on this date. I understand that there was a mask mandate enforced by Biden on his first day, however I am unsure that this kind of policy would result in this very sharp downturn.

The expectation would be that there would be some form of curve as the cases tail off and then decline. A sharp, near reversal of active cases seems strange to me – a virus that’s embedded in the community should work off gradually as people get infected and recover, passing the disease onto fewer and fewer people. Positive cases shouldn’t automatically just fall off a cliff.

I don’t wish to say that the statistics are false, and I’ve avoided suggesting so. Firstly, there is little reason to distrust the numbers, and also the fact that Government policy is borne from analysing stats like this means that keeping an eye on the numbers means that you can obtain an understanding of what is driving the policy.

Let’s look at the new cases in the United States.

Compare these statistics with that of the nation with second-highest number of cases, India.

A massive downward trend of the virus in India shows a more logical and gradual progression, in that it suggests a story of the community slowly recovering and passing the virus onto fewer and fewer people. Of course, there’s always more to the story with statistics, as population density, and other factors should be considered, but the drop off in the US – solely off the back of mask mandates and a slow deployment of a vaccine – does seem strange.

The rebuttal to my suspicion will be to cite the deployment of the vaccine. Refer to this article on the vaccine distribution on January 21, and the latest update from the same outlet on March 4.

So, what exactly am I alluding to?

I am sceptical that the severe drop off in statistics to a third of the daily positive case rate is solely attributable to the vaccine (received by an estimated 17% of the population), continued social distancing and mask mandates. I feel that the WHO’s redefinition of what constitutes positive cases is the driver behind the fall off in COVID numbers, and considering that the WHO is suspected of having very close ties to China’s ruling Communist Party, I grow suspicious that the statistics are being baked for political reasons.

Look also at the worldwide statistics, although I concede that a bulk of these numbers would be affected by the US downturn.

And the number of Active Cases:

The vast majority of active cases involved in that drop stemmed from just the United States (a total of around 1.2 million dropped off worldwide, of which around 800,000 were from the US).

Regarding my earlier statement about not wanting to bury the lede, it would be remiss of me to not outline that a sharp downturn from January 20 onward (per the date of WHO’s revised advice for COVID testing) was not visible in other major countries in where COVID had entrenched itself, ie India, Russia and Brazil. So my suspicion is not yet confirmed.

COVID wasn’t a hoax, and remains something to which we should always be concerned for the time being. All I’m saying is that such a crisis would have bad actors taking advantage of the mess to entrench their power, install their puppets, and have the story around them look as peachy as possible – while painting their opponents as inept.

All I’m saying is that we need to keep an eye on what we’re being told, as it seems that we’re being sold a story of “Biden Good, Opponents Bad” and that statistics and optics are being massaged to support that narrative. In effect, we are being lied to, played with, and deceived so that this interested party keeps their power. If this seems overblown and frantic, just remember that people have lost livelihoods, businesses, a year of education, and their lives because of this virus, and to have us be the playthings of the powerful should be troubling to anyone who espouses equality.

The COVID stats, and the illogical drop off seems like these powers fudged the policy too much in their effort to immediately push this story. Their policy affects you, so don’t let them get away with clamping down on you, while they dine at fancy restaurants and flout their own rules while their media laptops dismiss your concerns.
